Hi, my name is Clara Ilena. It’s nice to meet you.
I am a digital designer and art director originally from South Africa. I started my career in adverting working for global networks such as M&C Saatchi, Y&R and McCann. I decided to go back to University a few years back to study UI/UX and front-end development and haven't looked back since. I am obsessed with beautiful design, delightful details and intelligent strategy. I am also a passionate illustrator and an avid traveler who prides herself in visiting at least one new country every year and trying one thing she either cannot pronounce or is absolutely terrifying.
The idea for this ambient piece came from a proactive print ad titled "Land Rover Bookshelf" our creative director at the time had created for the Land Rover Defender. It started as an experiment in which we asked ourselves if anyone would see the Defender if we built it for real. We convinced Land Rover to recreate the print ad in 3 Dimensions and set the installation up in the travel section of a major Book Store. The books contained blank pages, except the first, which says: 'Words can't take you where a Land Rover can'
Needless to say we got more than a few smiles and reactions and by the end of the year, even a Loerie Award.
